You know PIR is good for riding bikes on-- but it's even better for
skating on!
You don't need super-awesome racing skates to come out and enjoy the
sweet sweet asphalt of PIR. Decent "fitness" skates with 78mm or
larger wheels will do you fine. Besides, everybody knows that skating
and cycling go together like peas and carrots!
So go dig your old Rollerblades out of the closet and come try PIR on
eight wheels (or ten) instead of two!
SKATE RACING AT PIR FOR 2009
Monday Nights, May 4 to August 31
WHERE: Portland International Raceway
1940 N Victory Blvd., Portland OR 97217
Directions: From I-5 take exit #306b west. The racetrack is located
immediately west of the freeway.
WHEN: Track opens for warmup at 5:00 p.m. Starting gun at 5:45 p.m.
HELMETS REQUIRED.
WHAT:
6- to 8-mile event for expert skaters
4- to 6-mile event for fitness skaters
Potluck Barbeques on occasion
COST: $7.50 entry (price subject to change)
COURSE: The course is a flat and wide 1.9-mile loop with excellent
quality pavement and is closed to all car traffic.
New racers are welcomed and encouraged. Just show up with a helmet and
skates, ready to race. Experienced racers are on hand to answer
questions
and provide tips.
