All Concerned:

The Hagg Lake BB venue is increasingly rare (especially in WA County) and

would be shame to loose. As of the conclusion of BB #2, I don't think we are

at risk of that happening.....in part, due to nice rangers, conscientious

riders and officials, and good course cleanup.

To all of you "green" riders: thanks

To all of you little litter-bug riders: don't do it again.

David's right. I lost a powerbar wrapper trying to

stuff it into a jersey pocket. I often stuff wrappers

up under my jersey, either in front or back, and

forget they are there until I undress. Stuffing

wrappers under your jersey works great, it's quick,

easy, and you don't loose them. Thanks David...

If your jersey isn't baggy, try tucking the used

wrapping/empty gel pack

up under the hem in front. I have good success in

not dropping my

garbage (or having to try and stuff it into my rear

pockets) this way.

Especially good for cold, numble-fingered days like

yesterday!

Dan, thanks for speaking up on this issue...peer

pressure against

littering is a bit tough, especially when it might

be some really cool,

strong rider that tosses garbage off, but littering

is really yucky and

should be seen that way!

And what about water bottles? Same story! While I understand

they are adding an extra 20 grams of weight to your bike, I think

everyone can handle that! At least throw them off at the finish

line so you can take care of them after the race.

I couldn't agree more. There is nothing about being in a bike race that

makes it OK to litter, if anything it should be the other way around in

order to protect the venues. I think some people feel that it makes them

more "Euro" to throw off trash like they see the pros do but it actually

just makes them look like thoughtless pigs.

In addition the OBRA rule is:

"17.1.2 - General rules...

- Riders are not permitted to litter. (Penalty at the desecration of the

Chief Referee.) "
