Henry Abel
Hey Tandem Racers,
The racing season is in full swing and in May I'm rallying the troops!
Crits and tandem road races are about to kick in and we're excited that all of you will be there. Road races are the main focus of NWTandemRacing.com - as these are the tandem races that rely on your support. It's easier to run a TT with only a few tandems in attendance, but a tandem road race needs a good turnout to pay for the additional officials and lead and follow cars that are there just for tandems.
I know that a bunch of you are planning on racing the IceBreaker Tandem Crit - and Amy and I are already registered for ChainBreaker, Silverton, and Rehearsal.
If you haven't already registered for at least two of the following races, do it now! (You're reading this email because you want me tell you to get off your lazy butts and race your tandem, right? Sure ya did!)
Let me know if you have questions about any of the races listed. And send me an email and let me know which races we can see you at!
NOTE: The Silverton Tandem Road Race on-line registration is still not linked on OBRA.org - but tandem teams can register now thru the link posted below and at NWTandemRacing.com
Hoe you're having a wonderful racing season so far,
Cheers,
Henry

ROAD: ICEBREAKER CRITERIUM, May 10 - Eugene, OR
A tandem criterium put on by our own Sal Collura. Held in the same industrial park used by the Co-Motion Tandem Stage Race criterium. The wide, D-shaped course is flat and smooth - and about as safe a tandem crit course as you could ask for. Tandems race last at 4PM. Register now.

MTB: CASCADE CHAINBREAKER, May 10 - Bend, OR
For those of you not doing the Icebreaker Crit (see above) - The WebCyclery Chainbreaker is the biggest mountain bike race in Central, Oregon. Held on Mothers Day each year, this race is held on private land on some great, west-side trails that are not normally open to the public. Tandems will do two laps (1 lap = about 11 miles). Three tandem teams are already registered! The race is mainly single and double track, often dusty, and is frequented by local pros Carl Decker, Ryan Trebon and Adam Craig. Register now.

ROAD: SILVERTON ROAD RACE, May 17 - Silverton, OR
A tandem field has been added to the very beautifual, and very tough Silverton Road Race. This roller coaster course is made up entirely of short, tough climbs and rolling descents. This could be the most challenging, and rewarding one day tandem race of 2009. The course is about 17 miles and tandems will do two laps. Register now.

ROAD: OBRA REHEARSAL ROAD RACE, May 23 - Ranier, OR
The course is unchanged from 2008 and starts and finishes at the same Ranier High School that was used by Cross Crusade. A beautiful course with quite a few twists and climbs and long, sweeping downhills. The first half of the lap is gradually up. The second half is mostly down. This was my personal favorite tandem race of 2008. Register now.
