Because I just turned 40 and am now in authority over everyone, I am
officially putting a stop to this whole stupid string.

Anyone who posts anything regarding Bear Springs XC race before, oh....,
next March from here on out will be subject to my crushing and ruthless ego.

I thought it was fun, an experience, sure the snow sucked, could have been better with less or no snow, especial on those long road sections, but overall i say the race was good fun! And we should all be happy that the race was able to happen.

I just stopped ski racing semi-professionally last year, in that sport conditions really make a difference in who wins, how much fun you have, or if you can even race. In comparison to the average ski race in the U.S. the conditions at bear springs would have rated about average maybe less. of course this is comparing 2 totally different sports, but i am just making a general comparison.

Bitching about conditions is part of sports as well, It's part of the athlete psyche, It is a defense mechanism to rationalize your performance, but it should be in good spirit.

Although personally i don't think the conditions were so objectionable to be pissed or ruin my performance or fun. I do think it is important for any sport, especially one that needs to be popularized, to hold high quality races to promote the sport as a whole. I suppose a beginner biker or wimpy person might have been bummed by the race and might not race again? And this is something that should be avoided as it does the sport no good.
