Mt. Hood Cycling Classic Partners with Pacific Power in 2009

I am excited to announce that Pacific Power will be the title sponsor for the 2009 Mt. Hood Cycling Classic. With the tremendous support of Pacific Power the Mt. Hood Cycling Classic will celebrates its 7th year as one of the top Pro/Amateur races in the country. Long touted by pros and amateurs alike as one of the most challenging and spectacular races in the U.S. the 2009 edition will once again see the inclusion of the CAT 4 men and CAT 3/4 Women as well as Pro 1-2 Men, Pro 1-3 Women, Masters 35+/45+ Men and CAT 3 Men all racing for pride and honor.

The Pro 1-2 men and Pro 1-3 Women will start on Wednesday afternoon with the beautifully Panorama Point Prologue that takes them through the Hood River Valley orchards up to the viewpoint. The remaining fields will join the pro/elites on Thursday for the Stage #1 Cooper Spur Circuit Race that takes riders from Hood River's orchards up to the alpine climes of Mt. Hood's Northern flanks. Stage #2 will once again see the world renowned Scenic Gorge Time Trial. Toted as one of the toughest and most spectacular time trial courses in the world this course will leave you breathless as it covers the old Columbia Gorge Scenic Highway. Stage #3 roads are melting away on schedule and look forward to bringing back the traditional Wy East Road Race for this year. A small variation has this year's stage starting and finishing at Mt. Hood Meadows for ease and convenience. This unique stage takes riders from the high mountains through rain forest and into the desert and then back. Stage #4 will wrap up the race in downtown Hood River with a criterium in front of Full Sail Brewing were riders can treat themselves to some of the best beer you can find.

Registration is open. As an added bonus riders who register by May 7th will receive a commemorative T-Shirt, pint glass and poster. We look forward to seeing all of you at the starting line!

Sincerely,

Chad
