Season Points and results to come soon. Remember this Friday is part of the

Larry Burkey Memorial Junior Velodrome Series - so all juniors should be

here. Also please come out to the track early and help out with the cub

scouts who will be there at 3pm. Every one pays this Friday - no specials.

$7 for Masters and $5 for juniors, Racing starts at 6:30 sharp. Registration

closes at 6:20pm - so be there on time, please. Masters Women is for novice

track masters only.

Here is the schedule for this Friday Night:

MB - *Points Race Miss-n-out

MA - *Teammate Tempo (0,1 every lap) 20 laps

MW - Unknown Distance (TBD on turnout)

MC - Unknown Distance

JA - Win-n-out (5 laps and then pull every 2)

JB - Win-n-out (5 laps and then pull every 2)

MB - *Black Jack Points Race (sprint every 3 laps till someone hits 21)

MA - *24 lap paced points race (4 sprints every 6 laps)

MW - Pursuit/Handicap (TBD on turnout)

MC - 10 lap Tempo (2,1 every lap)

JA - (TBD on turnout) (6 lap Scratch Race)

JB - (TBD on turnout) (6 lap Scratch Race)

MB - *Long Points Race (20-40 laps)

MA - *Long Points Race (30-50 laps)

* OK, I am keeping the sprinters points race as a viable option, but trying

something new, the paced points race. This means someone, likely me or

Darien, will go to the front and pull at 23-25mph on the black line. Just

after the finish line with 2 laps before each sprint (every mile or 6 laps)

that person will pull up to the blue line in the corner. Riders are not

allowed to pass over the pace setter or at any time overlap above the pace

setter (riders will be pulled if they overlap). At the corner with two

laps, or a little less, to go the riders are allowed to do what ever they

want (sprint is the likely thing) and then the pace setter will come back

down from the blue line on the back straight two laps later (after the

sprint) and any riders that are off the front must ride above the blue line

and come back down track behind the pace setter before the next lap starts.

This means there is no attacking and lapped riders are pulled. So sprint

every 6 laps, 4 laps behind the pace setter 2 laps on your own, passing

beneath the pace setter and then getting back on the pace setter again for

actually just over 3 1/2 laps. Points will be 5, 3, 2 and 1 with no

doubles. I picked 6 laps cause it is a mile, and to make sure there at at

least 3 laps behind the pace setter.

*Another new race, the teammate tempo. This race is exactly like a tempo

race but no points for the leader, only second place, and you must be in the

lane. So it pays to have a teammate in the front sacrificing himself for

the rest of the riders. Points every lap and they are 0 points for first and

1 point for the second rider in the lane. Rider scoring points must be in

the sprinters lane, you can not pass to get points as there can only be one

bike in the lane at a time. You can pass at any time in the race, it is just

the second rider in the lane who scores points. The goal of this race is to

team up with a few riders and pass the whole group together and get in the

lane again. Final sprint will place riders without points, but again no

placing points for first, riders do not have to be in the lane for position

placing, but still do have to be in the lane for the single point.

*The black jack points race, points are 7, 4, 3 and the race is an all or

nothing, 22 points = you are out. Sprints every 3 laps and no gaining laps,

loose and lap and get pulled. Race is over one sprint after the first rider

to get 21 points.

* Points race Miss-n-out is easy, no points for the first 3 laps, then we

will start with points (2, 1) on the end of the odd laps (first one the end

of third lap) then pull the last rider on end of even laps, Bell will ring

for the getting pulled laps only, riders will be getting points as the bell

rings. Can't lap the field, lapped riders are pulled though. Rider with the

most points wins, rider who finishes best on miss-n-out rules wins any

tie-breakers.

Long Points races will be as long as light and the officials allow.
