For all the lawyers and auto insurance agents out there:

My wife was hit by another car while driving on the Freemont bridge
yesterday (she is ok). The insurance company is saying the car is a total
loss. Is there anyone I can talk to about what my potential options might
be? The car is paid off and we don't want to have to put money into another
car. Is there a way to make sure the insurance company pays for the new car?
Or, is there not much I can do and we take the money and put it down towards
a new car?
