Hi. Longtime cyclist (commuting and long distance), taking up short-track and cross racing this year. I have not raced seriously in years and my only other off-road experience is BMX back before it was a nationally sanctioned sport (in the early-70's).
Hereditary knee issues prevent me from using clipless pedals of any kind. Tight budget prevents me from seeing orthopedist or sports specialist. Currently having TONS of fun on my newly-built SS mountain bike, which I will racing on this year. Running flat pedals and BMX sneakers, which is what I know and what my body seems to remember.
Seeking suggestions for a better, sturdier BMX-skate type flat shoe that offers a little more stiffness than garden-variety Vans Old-Skool shoes. (Please don't try to persuade me to go clipless as I have already confirmed that medically it will not work for me.) Thanks --
