Hi Obra –

16 days and counting to our big Laurelwood block Party. It’s going to be a great time, there will be expo booths, a 20 mile fun ride, food, beer, few door prizes and music –all for just $20, that’s less than the price of entry fee for most races! –hope you can make it.

All the money we raise will go to the Lance Armstrong Foundation to send someone most of you know and have raced with to the Seattle LIVESTRONG Challenge.

I don’t know if you know or not, but Quinn Keogh was diagnosed with testicular cancer this winter –so that’s why you haven’t seen him out racing and flying the HP colors. Quinn said it was okay to share his story with everyone because cancer can happen to anyone at any age and everyone needs to be proactive in early detection.

Quinn’s cancer was caught very early-because of persistence and early recognition on his own part. He did his own self exam-and noticed something was wrong. He went to his doctor right away-who blew it off saying it wasn't anything so he asked for a referral and got checked out. The cancer had not spread at all, he had the testicle removed-and is cancer free. The chances of getting the cancer back are 1 in 5, but if he goes through a round of radiation, it is about 1-3%. Radiation itself has its own risks-but it is a risk he has to go through to increase his odds of surviving.

Quinn is our guest of honor at the block party –please come wish him well and many happy returns to his bike!
