Hello All

As a promoter I think Shane has a great idea.   I personally do mailing and try to hit as many shops as I can, but there are a lot of them. This year all promoters in the VW series signed a contract and one of the rules was they must make better flyers and get them out better. But still take Shane's idea and run with it....if the local bike shop has flyers take them to the local school or hospital( we have a lot of hospital staffers that race, in fact if you or anyone you know works at a hospital please contact me and I'll send you a stack of flyers), REI, sporting goods store, anywhere you think would help .

The series flyer that you got or will get soon has a typo ....Shotgun 2...The Oregon State Championships are July 28th NOT the 8th.

Hope to see you all at the Mudslinger....I'll be there in the VW van handing out flyers for other races and I'll have some stuff from sponsors too.

The WIM series in Washington is pulling up to 500 XC and 250 DH racers and they pay more to race up there...so get your friends, family...who ever and come race in 2002. Remember beg. class is only $20 and NO LATE fees at all series events. Plus we have 5 non-competitive events too this year.

Good Luck in 2002

Last year finding out information about XC races sometimes seemed like searching for a needle in a hay stack. Some promoters were very good and others were not so good. I understand that every one is busy and sometimes getting the word out seems to be the last thing or people assume that the website is enough. Plus, promoters are trying to keep cost down so the advertising budget is usually the first to be cut. As part of the OBRA mailing list we are some of the most informed riders, but people that don't currently belong to OBRA, for the most part have no way to find out about races.

So I propose a challenge to all racers. one that will promote racing in the state and hopefully increase the amount of people racing. We will or have all ready received fliers for the Mudslinger and will be receiving fliers for other races in the mail. Take these fliers and make 10 copies, which should cost no more than $2.00. Post these copies at your local bike shops and other place where interested people will see them. Don't just post the local races, but all races in the state. If everyone were able to do this, I think we would see a difference in participation.
