Junior Spring Track Camp
Where: The Alkek Velodrome in Houston, Texas.
When:?? April 9th-14th,?2002.

What: This is a track camp for riders from 14 to 18 years old, that
includes 2 days of competition in the Memorial Hermann Junior Cycling
Classic, which boasts a $2,000 prize list. See the Alkek Velodrome

Staff:? The camp will be led by USA Cycling?s National Athlete
Development Manager, David Mayer-Oakes. David is a former
professional road rider and was the 1974 Junior National Road
Champion. Assistant USA Cycling coaches: 1974 Junior World Sprint
Champion,? Gilbert Hatton, and World Championship Sprint Silver
Medallist, Renee Duprel.
Cost:?? The 5-day package is $645, which includes all meals, housing,
transportation in Houston, track sessions and seminars. Checks must
be received no later than March 25, 2002. This is a USAC permitted
training camp. All participants must hold a current USAC license.
Riders will be responsible for their own equipment.
Team Discounts:?? Team discounts are available to USCF or NORBA clubs
with 4 or more people attending.? Call or email David for more info.
How to register:?? Mail in the Athlete?s Standard Entry Form, medical
release, and proof of current health insurance, along with your check
for $645 made out to USA Cycling. Registration deadline is March
25th.? A late fee of $50 will be charged to all applicants after that
date. USAC reserves the right to cancel if enough participants do not
register by the deadline. In that case, all fees will be fully
refunded. A minimum of 12 participants is required.

Schedule:?? This is an intensive, spring track camp. Wednesday and
Thursday, riders will have AM and PM training sessions on the track.
All Olympic-style and Junior National Championship events will be
covered in detail. The schedule may vary, depending on the weather,
but will include approx 3-5 hrs of training per day for the 4 days,
including skill sessions with the coaches covering the following
subjects:? Standing starts, Bike Fits, accelerations, gearing, and
discipline specific drills.? Racing starts Friday evening, and
continues Saturday morning and evening.
