6:00 alarm goes off. Check through the window, there is at least 1 1/2 -2

inches of snow on the ground, go back to bed

6:10 still no phone call cancelling the race, reluctantly get up and in the

shower

6:20 dress, ski socks, long johns, (you get the drift)- still no phone call

6:30 load car with all race needs - still no call

6:35 wake son (also an official) still no call

6:36 leave house, road covered, check cell phone for charge

7:00 driving through Portland, not as much snow as Gresham but still

snow. Call myself to check phone is working

7:30 Arrive in Forest Grove, skies cloudy but see some possible

lightening. Stop for breakfast Big Gulp- No phone call still

7:35 Drive into the park. The trees around the lake are dusted with

snow. Looks like one of those lots with flocked trees, skies clearing,

Cell phone won't be getting a signal soon might as well proceed.

7:40 not quite at the parking lot in car temperature gauge measures the

outside temperature at 33, wonder how long before we can head for home

7:45 Skies clearing, phone rings, but you can't get service in the Park,

arrive at staging area. There are actually riders here!

8:00 Riders keep coming, each more dumbstruck then the first, this might

actually happen

9:00 First race is suppose to start but some of the corner marshalls have

not shown, did they think this wasn't going to happen, how silly!

9:10 We're racing

3:30 Head for home

6:35 Results in the computer time for down time

Actually had to break out the sun glasses a couple of times, was a very

nice day.   Just goes to show you that you will miss some of the good days

if you don't go to all the days
