There's a weekend of new tandem races happening June 26-28. Both NW Crossing Tandem Criterium in Bend and Lifesource Salem Fairview Circuit Race are inviting tandems to take part in their races this year. Both of these excellent races are inviting tandems for the first time so let's show them that we appreciate their support and come race our butts off...
ROAD: NW CROSSING CRITERIUM, June 26 (Friday) - Bend, OR
This neighborhood criterium is inviting tandems to attend this year and I know of 5 Bend tandem teams that are already committed. I also know that Mike & Carol Peterson and The Ripps are coming over from the valley to race on friday as well, so turnout is going to be good! This race is a half mile from my house so am hoping that you'll all come joins us for this one. Hope you can make the trip to Bend and come join us. It'll be a good chance to size up the competition before racing a lot of these same teams again on Sunday in Salem. Details are below...
Held during the NW Crossing Hullaballoo neighborhood block party, this friday evening criterium winds through the houses, park, and shops of the Northwest Crossing neighborhood in Bend, Oregon. Tandems will race at 5PM for 30 minutes. Bring your single bikes and race again after the tandems race. A schedule and map of the course is now posted.

ROAD: LIFESOURCE SALEM FAIRVIEW CIRCUIT RACE, Jun 28 - Salem, OR
It's official! Tandems will be racing at Salem Fairview in 2009! The course is a 1.9 mile loop features a looong, totally flat, sweeping straightaway at the start/finish, four actual corners, a gradual climb, and a fun, curving descent (see above photo). A safe circuit that is technical enough to keep it interesting, and guaranteed fun for the tandems. A perfect cross between a mini-road race and a criterium.
A big thanks to Jesse (same promoter as Silverton Road Race) for inviting the tandems to another one of his events. I think that this circuit race will be the most popular new tandem race of 2009! Looking forward to seeing all you all there.

NEED A STOKER/TANDEM FOR LIFESOURCE SALEM FAIRVIEW CIRCUIT RACE?
Stan Moore would love to do this race, but he has no captain as Clay will be out of town that weekend. Stan has his own tandem - he's just looking for a captain. Or he'd be happy to ride on the back of your tandem. (Stan is blind, so if he asks to captain I'd suggest you politely decline.)
If you'd like to race with Stan please email him directly...
