Rob. I don't know a 30 minute hill in the L.O. area.
The geology just isn't there. But there are any number
of great shorter climbs for intervals in the area. I
highly recommend Woodbine/Wisteria Rd. from Johnson
Rd. up to Rosemont in West Linn. Beautiful with almost
no traffic. You can even loop in Salamo Rd. (used to
be great, but now too many houses. Just south across
the valley (and the river) is Turner Rd. off of
Boreland. Pretty and little traffic. There's also
Pete's Mt. Rd. out of the Willamette District. Steep,
but a fair amount of traffic. You can certainly pick
up a lot of speed on the straight, steep descent)
For back to back intervals training go out to Warnock
Rd. in Oregon City. Where it hits Critser Rd. it
makes a bowl and you can go up and down each side.
Watch for the new dog at top of hill though. Short,
but you can get a lot of repeats done. Near that,
Central Point Rd. from New Era to the top. Exactly
one mile of a really pretty climb and not much
traffic. The dogs near the top always bark, but I've
never had trouble with them.
