Colombian climbs nation's tallest building on bike
BOGOTA, May 20 (Reuters) - Javier Zapata Saturday hopped up 943 steps of
Colombia's tallest building on a bicycle and said he had set a world record
for step-climbing on a bike without touching the floor with his feet.
He achieved the feat, broadcast live on television, in 43 minutes and 26
seconds. His previous record, recently acknowledged by the Guinness Book of
World Records, was 760 steps on his bike in 1999.
On reaching the roof of the 49-story Colpatria Tower in central Bogota,
Zapata told local television he would now set his sights even higher,
"maybe in Miami in a building of some 60 or 65 floors."
