CO-MOTION TANDEM STAGE RACE - A PREVIEW OF NEW COURSES FOR 2009 (NO WOLF CREEK)

The Co-Motion tandem stage race happens the weekend of August 21st, and the big news is that we have an all new road stage and new TT stage this year. More details to come, but know that there is no Wolf Creek road race this year and a new TT. We'll be racing out of Coburg (just north of Eugene) on a 60 mile stage that you may recognize as the one that was going to be used during the Willamette Stage Race earlier this year.

Here is my unofficial list of what's happening in August...

Friday - Fun Ride 25 mile Kirk loop (optional fun ride the day before the racing starts - I highly recommend it)
Saturday - Coburg Road Race (60 mile flat start with one small climb and one extended climb, rollers to the finish)
Sunday AM - Coburg TT 15 miles flat (map linked below)
Sunday PM - Greenhill Technology Criterium (same as last year)

I don't know the exact route yet for the Coburg road race but you can get a pretty good idea from this description that I found for this stage of the 09 Willamette Stage Race...

"Starting from the Historic Town of Coburg... one big push over Brush Creek on the way to the finish. With nearly 2000 ft of climbing a opportunistic solo attack could happen, and team tactics will loom large in the eastern foothills and Mohawk Valley..."

Here's a link to a map of the new (for us) TT course in Coburg. They use it for a weekly TT in Eugene...

Dwan and Sal are still working out the details. Keep in mind that none of this is official.

I'll send you the real course details as soon as I have them.

Hope to see you this weekend at both of these tandem races...

ROAD: NW CROSSING CRITERIUM, June 26 (Friday) - Bend, OR
Held during the NW Crossing Hullaballoo neighborhood block party, this friday evening criterium winds through the houses, park, and shops of the Northwest Crossing neighborhood in Bend, Oregon. Tandems will race at 5PM for 30 minutes. Bring your single bikes and race again after the tandems race. A schedule and map of the course is now posted.

ROAD: LIFESOURCE SALEM FAIRVIEW CIRCUIT RACE, Jun 28 - Salem, OR
It's official! Tandems will be racing at Salem Fairview in 2009! The course is a 1.9 mile loop features a looong, totally flat, sweeping straightaway at the start/finish, four actual corners, a gradual climb, and a fun, curving descent (see above photo). A safe circuit that is technical enough to keep it interesting, and guaranteed fun for the tandems. A perfect cross between a mini-road race and a criterium.

A big thanks to Jesse (same promoter as Silverton Road Race) for inviting the tandems to another one of his events. I think that this circuit race will be the most popular new tandem race of 2009! Looking forward to seeing all you all there.
