Rack ideas

I recently purchased a seat post clamp which has threading for a rack,
you can kind of see it in this picture:
http://www.asherlouis.com/view_cal.php?id=1150&year=2009&month=5

so the rack bolts right to the seat collar and some rubberize straps that river city has in all sorts of diameters for the seatstays.

the rack is very stable, this past weekend, I hooked the tag-a-long to it, and then attached a trailer to the tag-a-long, all on my carbon "rain" bike, so I think you'd tour with it with no problems.

Seth,

I know I just wrote to you about the idea of using a trailer.  But then I remembered some of this stuff, and thought you would & maybe others woudl find this more useful.  Check out this site, especially the Quick Release Mounting Kit.

This guy is an awesome resource for touring parts.  As you can see on page above, he has all kinds of parts that can make a rack attach properly to just about any bike.  And if you are looking to purchase a rack, I would highly recommend Tubus.  My wife has the  Tubus Cargo & Tara.  They are way better than the aluminum Blackburn racks that I have.  The Tubus stuff is a little spendy, but the durability and ease of installation and adjustment is way ahead of other racks that I have seen.

Have Fun!

I'm currently trying a seat clip rack, and it pretty squirrelly. The quick release  uncomfortably hits the back of my legs when I peddle. It also seems that it slips to the sides over time, not a great thing if you want your spokes to remain intact.

Does anyone know of an alternative? Perhaps something that may attach to the rear skewer to help secure it? I'd like this to be an enjoyable, trouble free ride. Your ideas are much appreciated.

Thanks
Seth

All,
I'm planning on doing a little touring this summer and all I really have
is my old racing bike (ie. no rack mounts). Have any of you successfully
attached a rack to your racer? I'm currently trying a seat clip rack,
and it pretty squirrelly. The quick release uncomfortably hits the back
of my legs when I peddle. It also seems that it slips to the sides over
time, not a great thing if you want your spokes to remain intact.

Does anyone know of an alternative? Perhaps something that may attach to
the rear skewer to help secure it? I'd like this to be an enjoyable,
trouble free ride. Your ideas are much appreciated.
