Once they hit the mountains Lance and Alberto will have to "prove" who is best. Potentially burning themselves out too quick to do good the rest of the tour.

It's all feints and disinformation cleverly designed to accomplish
confusion among rival teams, further publicize Lance's anti-cancer
mission and, yes, also give the ASO and media something to sell.
Masterfully played so far.

At some stage Contador will likely sail off up a mountain leaving a
bunch of folks banging their head against a wall punishing themselves
for falling for the distraction.



But I'd still love to see Lance prove me wrong.

I found it interesting that the astana guys were helping in the break. if contidor was the team leader than they should not have been helping lance gain time. i think it was t-mobile a few years ago that had this issue. i remember the team basically splitting into 2 teams. on a different note, man cav is fast.
