IT'S COMING!!!!
THE ELKHORN CLASSIC STAGE RACE: JUNE 7TH, 8TH, AND 9TH, 2002 BAKER CITY, OREGON
A four stage, three day timed stage race.
Stage One: Friday June 7th @ 2:00 PM from the Baker City High School parking lot: The Oregon Trail Road Race - Approx 80 miles of varied terrain passing through the heart of Baker valley and over the Oregon Trail.
Stage Two: Saturday 9:00 AM Wingville Individual Time Trial, 3 minute bike ride from the high school to start line. A 10 mile out and back test against the clock.
Stage Three: The Gold Rush Criterium, Saturday first race at 3:30 PM. A six corner downtown loop on super wide streets with a $1,000 up for grabs in primes makes for a fast exciting race.
Stage Four: The Elkhorn Road Race Sunday 8:30 AM 100+ miles of pure scenic beauty with a few climbs to keep your mind on the race. An epic loop that will shake up the GC for sure.
Support:
There will be two support vehicles for every category.
There will be one neutral feed on Stage One. We will be handing up water.
There will be Two neutral feed zones on Stage two. We will be handing up water.
The road races are loop courses that will both stage at the High School parking lot for a neutral roll out.
Prizes:
100% PAY OUT The riders get whatever is left over after expenses. I am in it for the fun!
Medals for top three finishers in each stage.
Custom Etched Glass Awards for the top three GC finishers in each category.
$1,000 primes in the crit.
Lodging:
There are numerous hotels and camping opportunities in Baker City. Mention the Elkhorn Classic Stage Race at the Best Western Sunridge Inn and receive a discounted price as they are our host hotel.
The High School has also agreed to allow the use of their modern facilities: 3 men's locker rooms, one women's locker room, and two gyms, and the field for tent camping for $5.00 per person per night with the proceeds going to the Baker High sports programs. Simply sign up and pay when you arrive any time after 8:00 AM Friday June 7th.
Food:
Lots of restaurants, stores, and coffee shops to meet the needs of the peleton. THE HIGH SCHOOL VOLLEYBALL TEAM WILL BE PROVIDING AN ALL YOU CAN EAT SPAGHETTI FEED AT THE SCHOOL SATURDAY NIGHT JUNE 8TH FOR $6.00. Meal will include salad, pasta, bread, juice, and cookies. A great way to carbo load and provide further support for the school.
Registration:
Sign ups have been coming in. Field sizes will be limited so get in early.
Individual: now through May 12th $65.00, May 12th through June 4th $75.00
Team Discount option: four or more teammates that send in registrations in the same envelope pay the following per rider:
