Moving the team track championship? Need some input

amelia puffin

2009-07-20

I also think that you should move the date of the team events!  It's such a fun day, and it will be a little sad to miss it.  Along with the fact that so many people won't be able to attend this weekend.  That, and Per and I have been training hard for the married couple's team sprint.  All other successes come out of our drive to maintain our reign.

Dear OBRA and WSBA Members,

Just a reminder that the Elite National Championship Time Trial event on Friday July 31st is an open to anyone in any category.  Never before has this event been so close to home.  Registration closes tomorrow so be sure and sign up if you plan to compete.  Open category is 30 K in length.

Once you have finished Nationals TT hop over the Cascades for a short drive to Peoria for the Oregon State TT championships in the Willamette Valley on Sunday.  Another do not miss event.  Two amazing TTs in one trip!  Can't beat that.

Sincerely,
Chad

I woke up a week ago and discovered that Microsoft loaded my PC with Internet Explorer.  Without my request, knowledge, or permission.  There is no magic uninstall button.  The instructions on the MS website state that the Service Pack III has to be removed before removing IE 8.   ( Note:  All the jokes about MS using their customers as Alpha testers are true..)

The question is:  Does anyone out there have first hand knowledge of how to get this pig off my computer. (And I don't want to hear how groovy Mozilla's Firefox is.  I have it on my computer now and it's slower than IE 8.  A scary thought, but there it is.)

So, can I load IE 7.3 over IE 8.0?  That would be nice, but far too simple for MS.  If you've been here, let me know what you did and if it worked..

Thanks.

Thanks to Kevin & his family, Half Fast Velo, and all of the other "behind the scenes" people for putting on this race.  In all honesty, a paved climb is not my favorite start to a mountain bike race, but the 12 miles or so of singletrack (for the Cat 2 race) was indeed a great time.  Brutal climb (the last 2 miles was a real killer for me), and the descent was a work-out as well.

The camping was a great bonus.  We found a nice unimproved spot really close to the course start that my family loved.  Creeks to explore, critters to see, beautiful weather.  I hope you can pull this race off in the years to come.

Greg

"Stands were full." Let's all post that to those Memorial Coliseum-velodrome news item comments. Lotsa references so far to the supposedly tiny audiences for track events.

This race was a lot of fun to watch (and ride)!  The riding out there looks
phenomenal; both road and mountain.

Kevin did an excellent job!

It was brand new last year for my son and it barely fit him...he now needs a 56 cm! I guess we did not time that growth spurt well enough with this bike purchase last year. It would make a great cross bike for a junior or someone 4'-11" to 5'-4" but check the sizing online for your own assessment. http://www.redlinebicycles.com/adultbikes/PDF/09-Redline-Conquest.pdf

* 44cm Redline conquest cyclocross bike, which fits like a 50 cm road bike. It has a 51 cm horizontal top tube measurement, but has a sloping top tube for better stand over clearance. It measures 44cm from the center of the BB to the top of the seat tube collar.
* Double butted aluminum frame with disc tabs, S-bend seatstays for great mud clearance, and a replaceable derailleur hanger. Responsive U6 aluminum fork with disc tabs. color is Blue & white
* Shimano Tiagra 9speed STI shifter/levers, 105 rear derailleur (9/10 speed),  FSA 46/36 cranks, 12-25 cassette, Ritchey Biomax bars, Ritchey stem, and Ritchey Wheels w/ Maxxis cyclocross tires. Easton post, Redline, saddle.. Tektro cantilever brakes (bar-top short levers too). Pedals are not included.
* It is great shape. Used just last season. This bike has only a few hundred miles on it by a rider just over 100 lbs. it has seen very light duty.
* It was a $999 new last fall. We would like to get $650 for it to help fund the new bike.
* If you are interested let me know.

Thanks,

One of the best courses in my 15+ years of racing in oregon. Also the perfect time of year to race here. Shame on those who blew it off.

I first rode this ride in 1995 and it is my all time favorite ride I
have ever done, and I have done some pretty great rides. I had to pull
some strings to get the day off so I could race it. I agree with Evan
this was a great event.

As I'm getting ready to add the final results from the Crook County Crush
XC, I need some fresh sets of eyes to give the results a scan.  This was the
last race of the series so I want to make sure everyone has had a chance to
review before we award the series Individual / Team overall awards.

*Please check your name / team:
http://www.breakawayconsulting.net/2009/04/oregon-mtb-series-results/*

If you didn't do the Crook County Crush XC race this year, make sure you put
in on the calendar for next year.  Incredible singletrack, wildflowers,
views of the Three Sisters, Mt Hood, etc.  Epic race - you can read the race
report here: http://bendelitemtb.blogspot.com/

Please email me with any questions/updates to the results by Wednesday July
22th so we can mail the awards.
Thanks,
Ben

yep one of the best race.... forget that, bike rides i've done in my 20 plus years of racing.  I still can't believe that I hadn't ridden the first trail since moving to Bend.

Endless wildflowers, skunk cabage, open meadows, thick stands of spruce and......dirt!  Beauty views at the top were the highlight. Thanks Half Fast and everyone involved.....

Hey, are any of you headed to the RAMROD ride next week?  I'd like to
carpool with someone.  I plan to camp at a nearby state park on Weds night (
I reserved a spot and there is room for another tent).   Also, I plan to
drive home after the ride.

It would be nice to share the driving duties, especially on Thursday.

Let me know if you are interested.

I am convinced that the adhesive used on those water resistant paper
race numbers that you wrap around your frame or seat post is some kind
of super-gel glue that NASA invented to secure heat resistant tiles to
the space shuttle. Soap and water? No. Nail polish remover? No.
Rolling it into a ball like the rubber cement in grade school that you
flicked into the hair of the kid in front of you? No.

Has anyone had success in removing this substance from a carbon frame
or do you just let it accumulate until the bike gets too heavy and
then stick the frame to your wall with it as art?

I use WD40 to remove glue residue from all sorts of things, including bicycle frames, parts and clear plastic.

I need to put together a 'cross bike.  I'm primarily looking for a frame (55-56 cm top tube) and fork though might also consider a complete bike.
I'm looking for something in good shape.  Probably not interested in a full carbon frame (though carbon fork would be good) - any used titanium frames out there?

Please let me know if you have anything to sell.

There is a call to move the team track championship to the same weekend as
the National Track Qualifier, which is August 8th. Many riders are scheduled
to go up to Seattle this weekend and have asked us to consider moving it.
So What my thought is

This weekend, do the juniors and the tandem events
Move the team pursuits, team sprints and Madisons to August 8th.

We are already planning on doing the Keirin finals on this day, August 8th.

I need to get some feeback from riders planning on doing these events
because of the very short notice.

Sounds good to me! Another consideration besides FSA Grand Prix at Marymoor
is the weather forecast for this coming weekend.  Temps could be in the
100's.
