Thank you so much to all who've sent replies! Your responses have been super-helpful. I am investigating options. Sadly they won't include a pro fitting -- that's beyond my budget -- but friends who know clipless have offered to help me sort things out. I'll stick with flat pedals for the rest of short-track but may switch to clipless for 'cross. Thanks again and happy riding! --Beth
