Riding to Seaside from Beaverton(Nike Campus)?

I rode to Seaside last year in June. There was still a lot of sand on the road from the snow. The sand robbed my power and forced me to ride in the road in some spots. That should be clear now though. I rode from Hillsboro along the 8 then the 6 to the Timber junction, through timber to the 26. I only had to ride on the 26 for 40 miles. Remember the sun sets in the west and riding westbound on the 26 near sunset is dangerous.

I've ridden 26 numerous times to the coast. Very good shoulder, but
bring durable tires. This time of year, it should be fairly clear of
gravel. There's those few bridges David mentioned, and also a tunnel
that's a little worrysome to go through. Other than that, fairly
smooth sailing.

I've done Hwy 26 to Seaside/Cannon Beach, very early (5:30 AM) in the
morning, from Sylvan (to avoid traffic). There's actually quite a bit
of shoulder, but in the Coast Range there are a few little bridges
crossing streams, and the shoulder disappears for those few feet.

I'm sure this has been covered zillions of times..
Once you're out past North Plains and at the "frogger" crossing at hwy 26 to
cross to Roy is there any direct reasonable route out to Seaside other than
hwy 26?

Have folks done 26 and found it safe?
