Hello OBRA Members...

The 2009 Co-Motion Classic Tandem Stage Race is just 24 days away! I hope
we'll see many of you who've been telling us "someday..." for years now,
because someday has officially arrived! We've put together a great event for
this year, and everyone is welcome to join in on the fun. New for this year
are a couple of changes in venue, with a road race and time trial beginning
in the town of Coburg, a sweet little town just north of Eugene. If you've
shied away from the famous Wolf Creek stage we've run several times, you'll
be relieved to learn that the Coburg-Brownsville course is much safer, with
none of the white-knuckle hairpin turns that have made Wolf Creek legendary,
nor does the new course have steep grades. There are a couple of good long
climbs, but the grades are steady and even, with safe, wide-open descents.
This is superb tandem riding country! The pavement is smooth and the scenery
- if you're not too focused to look up once in a while- is fantastic.

Hopefully, if you're planning on racing here this year, you've noticed that
early registration, which saves you $25, ends on July 30th. We'll honor that
as long as your envelope is postmarked by that date. If you miss early
registration, don't worry, there's still time, but please do contact us as
early as you can to let us know you're participating. If you're hesitating
to monitor your fitness level, the weather, or have some other question,
please contact me (see my contact info below) or the real authority, race
director Salvatore Collura, who has headed up this event since its
inception. Sal's email:

Sal's Cell# 541-521-6529

We want to encourage as more participation means more fun for everyone. In
case you haven't heard, we really try to include everyone, with categories
for first-timers, children riding with parents (even trailer-cycles!), A and
B categories for couples, a masters category for combined age of 100+ years,
and more. Details about the various categories, courses, registration, etc.
is all posted on the CCTR website:

There's also some good info on our blog page here:

I hope you'll come out and join us this year!

Best regards,

Dwan Shepard
