Mtb riders note.
Jordan Norris (fellow mtb racer) posted this on the NWTA site. I am reposting here. Scappoose Trails are the closest ones closed by Longview Timberlands (old Longview Fibre). I have not been out to the trails since last week and things were VERY DRY at that time. Remember if they have no entry signs up and you go ahead and enter, you are trespassing. Even though you may not be a person who might start a fire, if you are in the area and one erupted, you could endanger rescue people as well as yourself. This is the worst scenario... just being a biker ignoring any signage will also go a long way toward creating a BAD image for bikers in the woods. Lets hope we actually get a real weather change and get a good dose of rain and we can attack the dirt out there again.
Just my two cents.

Subject: [pumpclub] Timberlands Closed due to Fire Danger

From the AP-
Weyerhaeuser shuts Wash timber lands by The Associated Press Wednesday July
29, 2009, 9:17 AM

FEDERAL WAY -- Weyerhaeuser Co. has temporarily closed its timber land
operations in Washington state because of the hot, dry weather.

Company spokeswoman Shannon Hughes says work on the approximately 1 million
acres of company land was halted Tuesday afternoon. Weyerhaeuser's mills and
other facilities remain open.

Hughes says Weyerhaeuser closed its tree farms to public access late last
week in Washington and Oregon because of the heat.

Longview Timberlands, formerly Longview Fibre Co., also has closed about
332,000 acres of forest land in Oregon and 321,000 acres in Washington to
public access.

FYI The Scappoose trails are on Longview Timberlands and the trails near
Longview and Castle Rock are on Weyerhaeuser Lands.
