I used adhesive remover and steel wool. It worked but nasty, sticky messy
job.

This article prefers Tufo Standard tape over Tufo Extreme tape for CX tubulars:

He's using a glue/tape hybrid method.

Eric,
Prepare to have sore and blistered thumbs. The most effective way to remove Tufo tape from a tire is to use your thumbs to create a little ball of the tape. Continue rolling this ball around the tire, picking up most of the tape on the ball. Tedious and ultimately painful but effective.
A good glue job beats tape every time, atmo.

I have a set of Easton EA 70 wheels with Tufo Flexus 32 tires that I taped before last cross season using Tufo standard tape by following the instructions on the Tufo site. The setup worked well with no problems at all.

I decided I needed to retape them before this cross season. I removed the tires fro the rim and the rims are clean. However, most of the gummy tape is stuck to the tire. I have 2 questions:

1) Does anyone have a good/safe method for removing the tape from the tire?
2) Does anyone have an opinion about the standard vs extreme Tufo tape for cross?

Because of my success with the method last year, and because I don't want to mess with glue, I am going to tape again this year. The thread for the big debate about proper adhesion of tubulars, wether glue, tape, combo of both, etc. is a different thread.

Thanks in advance for the help
