Oregon JCS Update: http://www.obra.org/flyers/2009/jr_cross_series.html
Less than one week away to the first race of the season. The 9/13 Eugene
Psycho Cross Pseries. Race 1:
http://www.obra.org/flyers/2009/psycho_cross.html
Sellwood Cycle Repair / Team S&M are so pumped about this Junior Cross
Series that they are giving out Planet Bike Spok helmet lights
http://ecom1.planetbike.com/3042.html to the first 50 kids registering.
Thanks Sellwood Cycle Repair! I wonder what we will be giving away at the
next race? Stay tuned.
Our goal is that every Junior who participates has a great time and walks
away with something for their well earned effort. We have great sponsorship
from Pacific Power, Kona Bicycles, Redline Bicycles, Sellwood Cycle Repair,
Jeff Tedder / Hammer products, Corvallis Cyclery and the Willamette Valley
Cycling Team.
We have 4 grand prizes for the series. Two Kona Jake the Snake's (frame/fork
- only) http://www.konaworld.com/bike.cfm?content=jakethesnake , a complete
Redline 24" Conquest Cross Bike
http://www.redlinebicycles.com/adultbikes/conquest-24-09.html , and a
Redline Conquest frame/fork
http://www.redlinebicycles.com/adultbikes/conquest-frame.html . Which four
kids will walk away with these awesome prizes?
Two grand prizes for the Girls, and two for the Boys. The grand prizes will
be awarded on a lottery system. One lottery ticket per race entered. 15
additional lottery tickets if you win the series, 14 more if second, and so
on. The grand prize lottery will be on the Nov 29th race. You do not need to
be present to win but must participate in at least 4 races to qualify.
We will use a flatter series points system than traditional OBRA scoring.
This encourages participation and will keep things tight in the series (1st
thru 15th - 30, 28, 26, 24, 22, 20, 18, 17, 16, 15, 14, 13, 12, 11, 10)
We have a ton of Kona Clothing, Tires, medals, plus more Schwag for series
awards on top of the grand prize awards. And, surprise daily race
give-aways.
Get your kids out there. This is the future of this great sport. Cross
Clinics at 9 am each race day. We will teach you on the day of the race. Mt.
Bikes are legal. If your kid has never raced I suggest you start with a
goal of finishing ONE LAP (good enough for a lottery ticket). Keep it fun.
The other kids, the supportive environment, the fun of negotiating the
course will soon have them pushing all the way to the finish.
See you next week. Be sure to take advantage of your local Cross Clinics.
You can squeeze in one more Team S&M, Kona Bicycle Alpenrose Cross Clinic
this Wednesday to be ready for the first JCS race.

At the races look for the Kona & Redline Tents if you have any questions, or
just want to see some great stuff from our sponsors.
Thanks,
