Cross Over cyclocross stage race!!! THANKS!

I gotta say- great job to Sal and the officiating crew! A big thanks
to the sponsors and a big shout out to Rolf-Prima! Tessa sends her
thanks!!!

TT- before the race. "1.8 miles? EASY!" After the TT- "Ow! That hurt!"
Crit- loved it. Top B's shredded the field. The climb followed by a
left hander onto gravel with continued climbing put on the big hurt.
Being a critter by heart- I liked not having barriers. ;)

Long course- I am at a loss for words. Long. Epic. Hard. So glad
that it wasn't 80 minutes. I think Sal said he was glad it was
shortened.

Well... Cole had an unfortunate crash which took him out of the
running for GC- which is a total bummer. Congrats to Chuck for
winning the stage!

Lot's of good racing coming up!

I second Chucks post. Cyclocross Stage Race is a great idea. For a first
time event, they did a very good job. They will refine some things and next
year it will be even better. They are good learners. My take was a little
different on the cyclocross crit..... too fast, not enough interruption of
speed (I feel if you have the term cyclocross in a title, it means speed
with interruptions). But that is just me. Everyone has likes.
The Time Trial was lots of fun. I would have liked to do two laps with a
bypass of the start area. I bet time would have allowed it. It was a good
mix of surfaces. One lap was very fun however.
Even though I had some reservations about the long course being BRUTAL. It
ended up being BRUTAL! But it was well laid out. I felt they used the area
of Campus chosen very well. It offered lots of different types of surfaces
and some great natural barriers. I did make the mistake of riding the
run-up with four laps to go. Was a good reminder of the "suffer" in
cyclocross. I am glad I did not have my heart monitor on.
I do not know if they can get permission to use some of the other areas of
campus, but there are some fantastic woodchip 6-8' wide paths that just beg
for "Cross" and some grass covered hills that could create "Cross Myths" for
the children.
Thanks for a great (tough) time. How about that Kenji..... from damaged
shoulder last year to GC at the first Cross Over! More Pain coming on the
Peak! Then this boy gets Psycho (sand, river rock and other places to
play)Crossed!

Thank you to Sal and all the OBRA officials and volunteers for an awesome event this past weekend. The Cross Over cyclocross stage race was truly a unique event and if you missed it this year, you have got to make plans to come down next year.

Easily the highlight of the event was the cyclocross crit. Fast gravel/pavement crit course that really shook up the competition.

The long course was technical and very challenging with a run up that had even a few of the Cat A guys walking by the end.

Thanks again.
