I know you probably don't want to hear this, but I just wanted
to say be very cautious with such a long stem. Just about every
bike I own has a stem around 150mm long, because I am, uh, a tad
taller than most cyclists.
When the bars are that far out, it can really affect your rear
wheel's traction when you're sprinting, if you're not careful.
Further, I believe such a long stem radically increases the
stress on the weld at the quill. I've heard the "ping" of
death (stem breaking), and it's not a very happy sound.
Thanks for listening,
-Erik

Subject: [OBRA Chat] WTB: extra long stem
Hi,
I'm looking for a stem that is about 17-18cm long. I know these
are super
rare. A 1 1/8" quill style is ideal but I can make any size quill or
threadless work. If you have something you want to sell, please
send me a
note.
Thanks,
Kim
