Subject: [OBRA Chat] Help a teen’s dream come true; donate a large 26” bike frame!

Hi Cyclists,

The Community Cycling Center's Create a Commuter Program recently enrolled a
very tall, low-income teenager. We've been waiting for a large frame to come in so we can build him a bike. But, as you would probably expect, we don't receive
a lot of bike frames that would fit someone who is 6'11". He is a
dedicated and brilliant teen, and is really hoping he can get a bike so that he
can ride to his job training program every day.

We searched all of our inventory for a 26” inch frame and we
currently don’t have one. We are hoping that there is a generous cyclist out
there with an old 26” mountain
bike or hybrid bike frame that they can donate to the program, so that we can
build a bike for this teen.

About Create a
Commuter:

Our Create a Commuter program provides free, basic bicycle
safety education and fully-outfitted commuter bicycles to low-income adults
striving to connect to work or workforce development by bicycle. The Create a
Commuter Program is offered in
partnership with local organizations that have comprehensive

employment programs.

All of the bicycles we use in our programs have been generously donated
to the Community Cycling Center
by members of the community. With
volunteer support, our bicycle mechanics refurbish the bicycles and outfit them with everything a daily bicycle commuter would need
including fenders, front and rear lights, locks, pumps, patch kits, tools, saddle bags, and racks.

We would also accept a complete bike of course, but even an old frame
of that size would help us out a lot. All donations are tax
deductible; the Community
Cycling Center
is a nonprofit organization.

To donate a bike, please call Benjamin:

503 287-8786

or stop by the shop:

1700 NE Alberta St

Portland OR

97211

And let him know you have a 26” frame or bike for the Create a Commuter
program.

Please spread to word to all the tall cyclists you know!

Thank you so much!
