Subject: Double cross injury

Kenji - Thanks for your note of concern. I dodged a huge bullet on
saturday and am so greatful for that. I did sustain a spinal cord
injury but the prognosis is good and I am expected to make a full
recovery. The care I recieved trail side until discharge from the
trauma center was excellent. I am so thankful to everyone that helped
get me off the race course to the ambulance. Special Thanks to Jim
Thornton who held C-spine for me for what seemed like a long time. I
am sure you all can imagine how scared I was when I had no ability to
move my arms and legs after the initial impact. This accident is a
great testament to the importance of helmets, mine most likely saved
