While I like the idea I have a problem with the format. If 5 women, say =
40 to 44, and 2 50+ show up for an event and 25 men 40 t0 44 and 16 men =
50+ register for the same event and the promoter has opted to run =
separate fields for 50+ plus then, based upon the proposal, that =
promoter must either run a field for 2 women or scratch the separate 50+ =
field. That would be unfair to the 50+ men. Of course, if the situation =
were reversed it would be equally unfair.=20
While the goal is admirable, I.e., increase women's participation in =
racing, don't penalize other groups and thereby potentially decrease =
participation in them by instituting rules mandating strict equality in =
age groups.
I don't, at the moment, have a better suggestion but hope we don't cause =
harm in our attempt to rectify a wrong.
