Hello,

I'm interested in a 54cm CX bike. The lighter the better, and the newer the
better. Ideal model is the Specialized Tri-cross. Range in $500-$1,500 or
so. Thanks and please contact e-mail me directly: augusto@familyroast.com

Cheers,

Did anybody get any pictures of Anne Knapp this weekend? I wasn't able to
make it to the races, and was bummed to see that she was out there and I
missed it.

For those of you a bit newer to 'cross, Anne is the absolute nicest person
in the world, and the first great woman cyclocross racer from the US. If
you ever raced in Seattle back when she was racing, you've been cheered on
by Anne. She put as much effort into cheering ALL the other riders as she
would in destroying her competition in the women's race.

Here's a nice interview with her from 2004...

Looking for a good, trustworthy, fair priced auto mechanic (domestic
vehicle) in the Portland/Beaverton Area - someone you have used for
auto services (not your cousin Vinny, unless he is really good and
trustworthy). Please reply off list

Thanks

Hi all,

I'm asking our great collective cycling community to keep an eye out for my
race bike. This past Friday someone went into my shed and lifted my Time
VXRS road bike. I was home at the time working, saw the dude through my
windows and chased him, unfortunately he was able to ride away on the bike.
Please pass this on! Picture and flyer attached.

Thanks any help is greatly appreciated!

Two thumbs up for Sorin. He has helped us with service for our Subaru

great!

I thought it was the best day on a bike since the Saturday Astoria race.
The weather was great for the pre-ride on Friday and the race on
Saturday was pure unfiltered fun. The course was fantastic and had
something for everyone. My favorite parts were the off-camber wipeout
sections in the woods. I ate it many times myself, but managed to wiggle
around a few guys in there.

It was also great to see all my old homies who had upgraded from B to A
come back down to B for a little romp. Good to see you guys again! You
are still faster than me!

Either way will be the same for all racers... but... if it melts some (which

it may not... but sunshine even in cold weather can cause some melting) then

re-freezes; the 6-8" of snow can be very different than an area that is
swept. An inch of ice on top of a few inches of snow will be very different

than packed down inch or two. Both offer challenges. If it is dry snow and

there is some wind, it may self-sweep and drift some. Whatever they do with

the course should be just fine. I am looking forward to cold temps and
trying to stay vertical. A big thanks to all the folks in Bend helping make

this happen and to Ross and crew for their pro input. We are fortunate to
be able to participate in this event here at home.

Kind of reminds me of Nationals a few years ago in Rhode Island. I just
doubt that there is an overnight blizzard to deal with, but you never know.

I can say that the ground can change from race to race as it warms. One
corner can be iffy one race and great the next. Gotta love cross and how
things change so fast on course.

Currently the snow on the ground here makes even popcorn seem mushy.
It's so dry it can be mixed with the dust (and I'm not joking about that).

The temp got all the way up to 9 degrees for a short time today. Right
now it's just bit under 3 degrees.

Every revolutionary idea seems to evoke three stages of reaction...
One, it's completely impossible.
Two, it's possible, but it's not worth doing.
Three, I said it was a good idea all along.

I haven't been past the course since the snows flew, but?the shallow spots
in my yard?(on the west side near Shevlin Park) are 8 inches deep, with
drifts (there was a lot of wind? transport during the storm) over knee deep
in depressions and corners of the yard.
?
The dirt below is generally soft.? It could make for a fast frozen course if
the snow is cleared, or it could make for mud holes and frozen ruts if it
thaws and refreezes.?
?
It's Bend, there is no way to tell.? The storm wasn't expected to drop more
than a bit of dust, an inch max...? heck, Mt B only got one inch out of it
(from one end of town to the other, the range is 4 to 14 inches).?
?
If it ended up being 60 degrees this weekend, I'd be surprised, but the
cascades do funny things (my internal almanac says this winters snows are?3
weeks?early).?
?
Be prepared for EVERYTHING!? That said, Friday's temps should be around
freezing, and there is the possibility of more snow this weekend....
?
Cheers, Mike.
?
PS, if there is someone that is totally hosed with regards to a place to
stay, I may be able to put up a rider or 2 (spare room with a queen bed),
but I have to warn you that we have 2 young kids, and a chaotic life which
isn't ideal for someone that is serious about competing.

Kind of reminds me of Nationals a few years ago in Rhode Island. I just
doubt that there is an overnight blizzard to deal with, but you never know.

I can say that the ground can change from race to race as it warms. One
corner can be iffy one race and great the next. Gotta love cross and how
things change so fast on course.

they might sweep it off the course? SWEEP IT OFF THE COURSE?!??!

this is cyclocross, not baseball. let the snow lie!

Looks like about 6-8 inches of fluffy light stuff. There's no more coming
but this stuff is not going to melt. I think they will sweep the snow off
the course but you might want to bring your trainer for workouts.

scroll down to the bottom and look through the weather stations, one is at
-40 another at -30

http://www.wunderground.com/cgi-bin/findweather/getForecast?query=bend,or&wu
Select=WEATHER

Anyway this is a good site to see to the minute stuff around town. That west
ridge one is probably the closest to the race although it probably is a
couple hundred feet higher.

VeloGioielli.etsy.com. Etsy.com has a few of the local vendors that were at
BCV. Since there was great response at the show I cut the ribbon on my own
store. My mother has also been inspired and together we have made bikey
jewelry from upcycled bike parts such as chain, cable, innertubes and
spokes. This all comes from my cycling passion and hope it comes through in
our work. Please visit the shop at www.VeloGioielli.etsy.com.

Happy Holidays and enjoy the cold but dry weather.
