I am seeking experience-based opinions on AntiVirus S/W. I was running FireFox and got hit with a reincarnation of the old CodeRed virus that attacks the Windows boot block. It punched through the Microsoft Firewall & Norton AntiVirus like an icepick going through warm butter. The result was having to get my PC stripped, the hard disk reformatted and XP reinstalled.

So, I need some feedback. Has anyone used 1) The Shield Deluxe, 2) Webroot, 3) BitDefender, 4) CA Anti-Virus, 5) AVG (Note that the IT installed AVG Free 8.5 on my system and the first time I tried to use it, I got a pop up complaining about an incorrect application configuration.)
