You will have to wait until next year, if you did not attend the third and

final Estacada Time Trial on Sunday 28 April 2002. You missed a wonderful

race. The weather was beautiful, sunny but not hot, with a nice tail wind

for many of the racers. Junior Aaron Love averaged 29.5 MPH on the 10 mile

course.



About 140 adults showed up to race 20 miles next to the scenic Clackamas

River. Fifteen juniors from 10 to 17 years of age raced a fast, tailwind

assisted, 10 miles. Six were 10-14 year-old junior women!



The juniors and several adult racers were filmed as part of a cable TV

special on racing in Oregon. We will let you know when it is going to air.



This was a family friendly race attended by 6 members of the Hobson family,

4 members of the Thorton family and 16 members of the Bossen family (8 jr.

racers and 8 non-racing adult volunteers).



Next year we will not rely on the park bathrooms, instead we will provide

the more dependable option of porta-potties. If everyone pre-registers we

would even make a good guess on if we need more than the normal two.



If you pre-register for the Estacada Time Trail you can get your start time

ahead of time and plan your arrival accordingly, eliminating the need to

arrive hours in advance. We provided registration throughout the morning,

next time our flyer will reflect that. Consider pre-registration next year,

this year it was simple: racers just e-mailed Candi with their information.

A big thanks to Candi Murray for official-ing and coordinating things. Many

thanks to the Bossen Family of volunteers and others who helped to make this

happen.



The TeamBossen juniors made enough money to help pay their race fees for the

next few months. Thank you to all who came and shared the beautiful day

with us.
