Rainier Cross Crusade registration

When you are registering at Rainier this week you have 3 options:

1) Show us your 2011 OBRA license. Your 2010 and 2009 cards are handy for putting a new 2011 sticker on it but not very useful for registering for a race in the year 2011. I know I raced much better in 2009 since I was much younger and while wish it was still 2009, it’s not. If your dog ate your membership card or for any other reason you don’t have valid proof of 2011 membership please contact OBRA now (not tomorrow) and have them give you some document that will allow you to register without me hassling you.

2) If you don’t have proof of 2011 OBRA membership you can still race but you will have to fill out a one day membership form, use the check box “Missing proof of membership”, and pay an extra $5. I don’t have a computer at registration that can look up your membership to verify that it is valid, but if I did I would probably charge you $5 for the extra trouble.

3) If you don’t have your membership card or other OBRA approved proof of membership and don’t want to fill out the annoying one day membership form you can slip me a $20 bill and I will look the other way as you pay for the race. I’ll pocket $15 and give OBRA a $5 donation. Clearly this is my preferred option and it will save you from having to walk back to your car to get your membership card or filling out any more troublesome forms. Feel free to go this route but don’t be too obvious if Kenji or Terri is around. I suggest palming a $20 and greeting me with a handshake and a nod or wink.

You only have to fill out the waiver once for the Cross Crusade series so if you raced at Alpenrose you don't have any forms to fill out and sign. From now on please check in at registration and sign in if you are paying day of race or if you registered on line. Keep your numbers but remember to get a new number if you are changing categories.

Enjoy the cross weather this week and we hope to see your smiling faces at one of the best venues in the NW.

Here are a few important notes for Rainier Cross Crusade Registration.

Bring the cross number that you got from Alpenrose, Barlow, Hood River, or Pain on the Peak. If you forget it or lose it, we will be charging $3 to give you a new number. We are finding that hand written numbers make scoring much more difficult.

Bring your OBRA membership card so we can verify your membership.

If you paid for the season or pre-register on-line or by mail, we will have a pre-registration table where all you have to do is initial next to your name. If you have a Cross number that you received at Alpenrose, Hood River, Barlow or Pain on the Peak you can just go to the start after putting your initials in the book. If you change categories or need a number, we will get you a new number.

If you raced at Alpenrose, then you DON’T need to fill out another waiver. The waiver you signed at Alpenrose is good for all remaining Cross Crusade events. If you are not changing category and have your number, you will just have to pay for your entry and sign in at a returning riders desk.

If you did NOT race at Alpenrose but have a number from Barlow, Hood River or Pain on the Peak and are not changing category then all you have to do is fill out a waiver for the Cross Crusade, pay for your entry and sign in at the returning riders desk. We have you in the OBRA database from those earlier events.

If you are a new racer, need a new number or are changing category, then we will ask you to go to the new racer/changes desk.

We believe that we accidently gave out some wrong numbers to people in the C and C 35+ events. We may have to give you new numbers this week.

We apologize for any waits or confusion at the Alpenrose event. We will do our best to make things a smooth and quick as possible in the future. Enjoy the rest of the races and we look forward to seeing you at the races.

Thanks, Jon Myers
