This is correct, but USAC will default to the lowest category option for you unless you are renewing and have a higher category on your license. If you buy your license, then immediately request an upgrade, your license status will be switched from "active" to "pending" in the USAC database.
The SBO system queries the USAC database to make sure you have a valid license number when you register. It does not look at category. If your status comes back as "pending" (because of the upgrade) you will not be able to register until the status changes back to "active" after your upgrade has been processed.
I suggest you register in this order:
1.) Buy your USAC license for $60 (adults). It will expire 12/31/09, BTW.
2.) Register for the race with SportsBaseOnline in the correct category.
3.) Go back to USAC and request your category upgrade to the correct category (if you're not racing in the lowest category).
I've been talking with the folks from SBO and I think this will work.

Jim Fischer

Does that mean we would need to order our annual USAC license before we pre-register? This can be done online. Correct?
Thanks.
