Superdrome AVC Event Moving to Houston?s Alkek



Frisco, Texas (May 3, 2002):     Due to unsafe riding conditions, the

Superdrome will not be able to host the American Velodrome Challenge

scheduled to take place on May 17th & 18th.



Alternative arrangements have been finalized with Houston?s Alkek Velodrome

to host this event on the same weekend. More information about this event

will be posted shortly on the Alkek Velodrome website.



USA Cycling has committed that this event will still remain as a World Cup

qualifier, selecting athletes for the UCI World Cup in Cali, Colombia which

takes place the end of this month.



The Superdrome regrets any inconveniences caused by this difficult decision,

however, the safety of our participants is our primary concern.
