Blind Date # 4, the final race in this year's series, will be this
Wednesday starting at 5 pm. Visit our website for the schedule and
additional details. www.crossseries.com
1. Standings: The series standings are posted on our website.
Please check your standing on our website and stick around after your
race for an announcement on awards, especially if you are a top finisher
in your category for the series. We hope to have the final results
posted later this week.
2. Medals & Prizes: We will present medals three deep in each
category. Men's A and Women's A winners will also receive cash. We
have some cool prizes for other categories too. We hope to present
medals and prizes onsite. This will depend on whether we can tabulate
results from Blind Date # 4 on site. With the darkness, close standings
in many categories and mud, this may be a challenge. In at least some
categories, we will likely need an additional day or two to tabulate
results. In these cases, we will make an announcement on the OBRA
listserver about picking up prizes and medals.
3. Bad Ju Ju: Some racers have been racing without registering or
paying for that day's race. This places a financial burden on all
racers because OBRA charges event organizers a fee per racer based on
the number of actual racers in each race, irrespective or whether or not
they paid and registered. OBRA's fees are extremely reasonable and are
for equipment, insurance and officials. When riders race without
paying, it raises the costs for event promoters while reducing the
revenue. This forces those who do pay to subsidize those who do not pay
through higher future entry fees. Not registering or paying to race
sucks. It is really bad form - don't do it. If you're broke and want
to race, contact the event promoter in advance and ask if you can do
some volunteer work for your entry fee.
4. C Field Full: The Men's C field is full. We cannot accept any
more Men's C racers than those who already have Category C race numbers
from Blind Date One, Two or Three.
5. B Field Almost Full: Limited space is open in the Men's B field
on a first come first served basis. Other fields are open.
6. Open Fields: Racers may self-select their category and register
for Men's B if they have not yet raced in this series. The Women's A,
Men's A, B and Single Speed fields are fast and furious and are best
suited for fit, experienced cyclocross racers. The following fields are
appropriate for inexperienced or less experienced cyclocross racers:
junior men, junior women, beginner women and women's B.
7. Blind Date Newbies: If you're signing up for your first Blind
Date Race, you will need to bring a filled out OBRA release plus $15
cash or a check made payable to FieldKic LLC.
http://www.obra.org/pdfs/waiver.pdf .
8. Blind Date Vets: Returning racers should bring a $15 check made
payable to fieldkic LLC or $15 cash and bring your race number.
9. Race Numbers: Remember: Do not bring your regular OBRA race
numbers or your OBRA or Cross Crusade race numbers. You will need to
bring your Blind Date race number if you want to race.
10. Men's C Dup. Race Numbers: Some Men's C racers from Blind Date
One and Blind Date Two have numbers which overlap with numbers we
inadvertently reassigned at Blind Date Three. We will reissue numbers
to the affected racers at registration.
11. Frequent Flyers: If you signed up for a season pass and
prepaid, you can register for Blind Date Four by sending me a brief
email with Blind Date pre-register in the memo field and your name and
race number in the body. I will get you registered and send you an
email confirmation.
12. Credits: The Blind Date at the Dairy Cyclocross series has been
lots of fun and a ton of work. We have had four times as many racers
and craziness as we anticipated. Please thank Candi, Alpenrose and our
volunteers if you get the chance. They have worked their butts off to
make weeknight cross racing a reality. Special shout out to Candi for
so graciously putting up with us and our new event while overcoming the
logistical challenges of registering, managing and scoring so many
racers on the course in the dark.
Thanks for making this so much fun. We plan to be back next year!
