Yes, Nationals is pricey, so if you're looking for a nice place to stay that's reasonably priced I have to give a plug to Seventh Mountain Resort. Disclaimer: Yes, we are having the new FreshAirSports Crossaflixion Cup series on their property in November - visit our website for the details: http://www.freshairsports.com/events/cyclocross/cxseries_index.php

We also have set up special rates at Seventh Mountain for both the November 14th and November 28th races. Just tell them you're with FreshAirSports if you do make a reservation. November 28th is the Saturday after Thanksgiving and I hear they have a great Thanksgiving buffet if you want to make a long weekend out of it in Bend!

But, back to Nationals....Seventh Mountain is 10 minutes from the start line. They have a nice facility including on-site restaurant and café, ice skating rink and hot tub, plus they are only 20 minutes from skiing if you are making a family trip out of nationals. Trails are also easily accessible from the resort for rides or runs. Here is their complete information - book early as I'm sure they'll fill up quickly:

Seventh Mountain Resort - Where Bend Meets Bachelor

Thanks,

Kevin.  In response to your $55/250M of racing, just adopt my strategy and go as slow as possible to savor the course and maximize your racing dollar.  All these years people have just assumed I'm incredibly slow, that I don't' train, or that I just lack talent.  Not so.  I'm just trying to get the most for my money.  I'll bet that over at 250M pursuit, I get more than twice the value from my entry fee because I'm on the track twice as long.

Sorry, but I have to chime in. I have to state that I have exactally 0 experence with cross, but natz is natz. Don't people normally go to try and win? If you are expecting to get lapped, then why go? I understand the fun aspect of it, bit we have more cross racing than anywhere. Not trying to step on any toes, just cerious.

Also, price is nothing. We had to pay $55 for a 250m long time trial. The usac loves there money, but that's a different story

So how much is that per lap if you get pulled on the 2nd lap?

At USGP, riders were pulled about 3 laps in then after. That's an expensive
race not even counting the time/money getting there and warming up and so
on.

The problem with lapped riders is when you are an older master. They
start many groups together for example in 2007 they started the 50+
55+ 60+65+ all together. Ned Overend was in the 50+. He had an over 3
minute head start on the 60+ field and he races as fast as the pro.
The 60+ were pulled at the beginning of their second lap. To be fair
to USA cycling they rescheduled that race for another start and now
they have added a day of racing to separate the fields more. This can
still happen though so beware. However like Russell said it is well
worth going to Nationals and giving it all you got.
