I got into racing on a dare from friends.
I stuck with it partly because of that dare, partly because of wonderful additional support from partner and relatives, and partly because there was this WACKY, friendly, hyper-cheerful guy who would not stop smiling and enthusing about it, and who went out of his way to make me feel SOOOO welcome. Thank you, Ron. 2013 indeed.

Thanks for kind words Holt, but I was having so much fun! They were fueling
my energy. That is what is so great about the Crusade. People can have as
much fun next to the course as on it.
I knew how hard that hill was for me, so I went "right there" to help take
their mind off the pain for at least a few seconds. I also was not alone on
that hill, I was just one among the chorus. We had a rocking group helping
those ladies... and you could turn around and give a shout for the folks
coming down through the bumpy turns before that tunnel into the woods.
Great place to stage a race!
Push the tempo!
