Carbon Fiber Repair

Melissa/OBRA

I am in the process of announcing to the public that Ruckus Components will
be doing carbon fiber frame/wheel repairs in the Portland area.

Yesterday I posted up a repair job that I did on a pair of Rolf Prima wheels
here http://www.ruckuscomponents.com/blog
I have repaired a number of
frames/wheels/components/wind turbine blades/odds-&-ends with total success.
The hardest part of it all is matching the weave patterns or paint jobs. But
that is something we could work out with a local paint shop if need be.
If interested please contact me at shawn.small@ruckuscomponents.com

One of carbon's great strengths is it's repairability. Calfee may the only
place that does it in the States and they do it best. I know of at least a
few carbon frame manufacturers that list Calfee as their only officially
sanctioned repair shop (Ibis is one.)

I would send your frame to Calfee with confidence.

Hi Melissa,

I had the "opportunity" to use Calfee's repair service a couple of years
ago on my beloved Colnago CT2. It had a dime size chunk (chain-suck) taken
out of one of the chainstays that they repaired beautifully. The repair was
so well done if you didn't know if had been repaired you would not be able
to tell (and this is on a section of frame with naked carbon fiber weave. I
have and continue to recommend their service to all my club mates etc who
need such a service. I would also not hesitate to simply send your frame to
let them evaluate if it is even salvageable.

Note: I am also a realist as well. If a carbon frame has been through a
serious crash or been on the roof rack and driven into the garage wall then
there is too great of risk hidden damage that I would be too worried about
to repair...

Tim

Hello OBRA-Land,

I welcome your opinion on CalfeeDesign's carbon fiber bike repair or any
other carbon repair system you might have dealt with. One of my frames was
damaged at the seat tube and I wanted to look into whether I should even be
considering this option. Seems a little scary to me but looking at
CalfeeDesign's website (http://www.calfeedesign.com/howtosendrepair.htm),
they've been doing it with success for years. Thoughts?

Thanks for your input,

Melissa

Hello OBRA-Land,

I welcome your opinion on CalfeeDesign's carbon fiber bike repair or any
other carbon repair system you might have dealt with. One of my frames was
damaged at the seat tube and I wanted to look into whether I should even be
considering this option. Seems a little scary to me but looking at
CalfeeDesign's website (http://www.calfeedesign.com/howtosendrepair.htm),
they've been doing it with success for years. Thoughts?

Thanks for your input,

Melissa
