Ron and Dorothy Strasser
The Battlecreek Cross race was better than last year. It was well organized (same as last year) by promoters, volunteers and sponsors, but this year we had beautiful weather including nice warm sun, no wind or rain and the course was much more twisty and more technical. It was still very fast, but more roots, a little mushy in places from rain yesterday and three sand traps. I proudly did an endo trying to get out of one to the delight of the crowd. No damage. It was way funny! My aim was to entertain of course! Not really. Most riders I talked to had fun. Lots of room to pass and be passed.
Thanks much to all of you for putting this race on for us mature folk (yeah 60+). The Oregon Junior Cross Series race (and races within the race) were neat to watch. Some of the kids are really getting the opportunity to get out there and not just do laps, but actually work on their technique in a race environment. They are thriving on it. Another "hats off" to those of you working together to make that series happen.
Last weather report I saw on news tonight was rain may hold off until late tomorrow afternoon. Hillsboro may be damp and fast!
Bring your big engine.
