I know Kenny well

David Rosen

2009-11-16

While I usually delete the crazy posts that come through on the list serve
and like it is as much as anyone when someone "pranks" the list, I will put
my foot down about crossing the line with 9/11.

I was there that day. My school and work were across the street from the
Towers and I saw them on fire. While I was able to safely get out of the
neighborhood before they fell, the images and emotions were burned into me
and will stay with me for life.

Even in jest, it is not appropriate to put OBRA in the same sentence, let
alone the same breath as the people that caused the event, the event itself,
or even the idiots on the TV/ radio that would have you believe it was
Obama's fault (I'm not making a political statement here).

This is one topic/ joke/ email chain that has gone on too long and way too
far.

This all makes sense. I now believe it was OBRA who conspired to knock down
the twin towers in NYC. Ask Lou Dobbs or Rush Limbaugh they'll tell ya!

Notice the reference to French labs? I doubt the average NFL guy would get the hit.

Now that's funny.

I've been had. But forgive me, in the past 4 days I've

Moved out of a house
Moved into a house
Gone to ER because Tessa was in a bike accident
Found out that the severe pain I have been experiencing is from a broken rib.

So... I'm in a pissy mood.

Subject: [OBRA Chat] I know Kenny well

Please allow me to take this opportunity to introduce myself.

For four years I played college football at the University of Oregon and
later I played seven years in the NFL. During that time I came in
contact with many celebrities who were professional athletes.

In 2001, at a charity golf tournament I promoted in Seattle, I had the
honor of meeting Kenny Williams. We had several in-depth and
stimulating conversations at the awards banquet and after it was over I
told him I'd like to go for a ride with him sometime
to learn more about his sport. I didn't think I'd ever hear from him again.

Later that week I got a call on my cell phone from Kenny. He invited me
for a ride later that afternoon. I told him that I didn't own a bike
other than my trusty K-Mart Spring-Shock Cruiser to which he replied, "don't
worry about that."

I packed my K-Mart Spring Shock Cruiser in the trunk of my benz and
headed over to Kenny's house. When I showed up, there in the driveway
was a new K2 bicycle for me to ride and Rocket-7 shoes to wear. We began
riding. I think Kenny could have easily "dropped" me, but he didn't. He
rode at my pace, which was about 11 mph. For the next two hours we
chatted. Beside both being pro athletes, we had many other things in
common, one of which was, we both strove to achieve our goals using every tool at
our disposal. By the end of the ride there was a definite bond, a connection between us.

Allow me this brief digression. The NFL is rife with performance
enhancing drug abuse. I myself have many connections into this world
and have used steroids to improve my athletic performance on many
occasions.

Anyway, nearing the end of the ride, I told Kenny, "If you need any
help beating those guys at masters nationals or Seward Park, just let me know. I can
bring the power like Scotty. I can get anything you need," and he knew
exactly what I was talking about.

Kenny said, "I don't need that shit. I win without it."

He wins without it.

I've been reading a lot in the media about Kenny taking performance
enhancing drugs and it really bothers me. I believe the
drug testing laboratories, USAC and OBRA are
behind this attack on my friend Kenny. I've decided to right the wrong
where ever and whenever I can. This is just the beginning of my fight
to help restore the reputation of someone who is still very dear to me.

Sincerely,
Martin Jackson

central nervous system and cause long-term psychological damage so as a

I hadn't even yet gotten to the point of being offended by Mr Jackson's
unfounded allegation that OBRA was behind a coordinated personal
attack. I was still digesting the implications of a self professed
performance enhancing drug user and pro athlete spilling the beans
about the NFLs dirty little secret in an open forum such as our email
list. I'm sure Sports Illustrated will be picking up the story any
minute.

Beyond that I wonder if Mr. Jackson himself actually may have planted
the seeds of Kenny's self destruction with his offer of "help"?

One, it's completely impossible.
Two, it's possible, but it's not worth doing.
Three, I said it was a good idea all along.

Mr. Jackson,

To imply that OBRA is behind any of this is absurd and frankly, offensive.

I would like, no, I demand an apology from you- sent to the entire
OBRA list- as you have not only made an affront to the organization-
you have affronted the entire membership.

Mr. Jackson,it's well documented that steroids permanently affect the
central nervous system and cause long-term psychological damage so as a
confessed doper, are you a troll,a psycho or both? You'll get and deserve no
respect here.

Not everyone is looking to attack Kenny many of us like him and don't even know him that well. I myself signed on to show my sadness at this event not to add to Kenny's already tough road. The problem still remains the expectations of those who support this high level of athletics, be it NFL, cycling and the like. We admire the near super human endeavors of mere mortals.
