i raced this (my first) season on my mountain bike, and i am now committed enough to start looking for a CX bike to road train year-round and race next year (and beyond). the kind folks at River City Bikes (thanks, Weaver!) sized me at ~52cm (maybe 54 on some brands) and suggested something solid middle of the road (Tiagra+ ?) with plenty of life left in it. anyway, i'm hardly a gear head, just looking for the right deal in the $500-$1k range.

also, advice on other places to look for used bikes would be great.
