To those of you possibly interested in helping Juniors have their own series in 2010.
I want to commend Team Pacific Power Blue Sky for taking the lead and each sponsor for stepping up and creating a series where the Juniors get to race on a Cyclocross course without another category or two of adults racing with them. Not that the second scenario is all that bad, it just is a big message to the juniors that their race is important. It gives them the respect they deserve as humans (the kiddie cross races are somewhat different and need their own format).
My reason for this post is to urge any team, promoter, sponsor or whoever to consider working with the Blue Sky Team to make the series grow next year. I do not have the ideas or answers on how to do this, but maybe some brighter lit minds than this fellow could come up with a process / procedure that would allow the juniors to have their own race at the many Cross races around Oregon so the kids can race. Maybe shorten the beginner and C races so time permits. I am just putting this out for consideration. Those willing to help make it happen will do so and those of you with children may get to have a child racing a race that you can actually watch and cheer for as you are not also on the course in your race at the same time. Thanks to the two series that did allow the Jr. Series to be part of their events. Work together to make it happen teams, sponsors, promoters. Then we will get the same going for a mtb, bmx and road series. But start with Cross... the kids love it. Think about it!
