Coast Hills Thanks!

Thanks to all the riders who attended the 7th (and final?) annual Coast

Hills Mtn Bike Classic, held this yr in honor of Ben Eder. 227 riders, 45

kids and a dry day equaled great success. My deepest apologies to the top

6 Sport riders who were directed off course before my marshalls caught

their error. Believe me that as bummed as you were, I was twice as bummed,

since I trained all marshalls twice plus sent them out with detailed

instructions and placed 50 signs on the course in an 8 hr marking

adventure! That marshalling position suffered a last minute substitution,

the loss of another volunteer (to assist at the new bridge that following

pre-ride report we deemed sketchy enough to warrant extra marshalling), and

a dead cell phone. Some of the many complicated and often frustrating

elements of promoting an MTB race, I am afraid. They are just kids,

though, who tried their best and did not deserve the heavy profanity-laden

abuse that they received (and marshalls later down the road who had nothing

to do with it got as well!)

Something for us all, myself included as I have been known to blow fuses in

the heat of the moment as well, to consider. At any rate, thanks for

showing up for our race and supporting our clubs! If you know someone on

the coast who wants to pick this thing up, send them my way as I am done!

When your life changes, you gotta adjust. It was a fun 7 yrs, thanks again.
