Wow, they were thinking its a great place to hold a cross race. That's why
people put in the bid and were awarded the race. Not every cross venue will
be the way we want it.
Just for mere consideration, I raced Cross Nats in 2005 and 2006 in Rhode
Island while I was racing for the University of Oregon. In 2005 a big storm
blew in, blizzard like conditions, almost everyone that showed up to race
either dropped out or finished looking partially frozen and ready for death.
Tons of people with frostbite, but it was a hoot to see people show up
looking like a ball of clothes! The following year is was in the mid 30's in
the morning and 40's by the afternoon. Things can change from year to year.
Who knows, next year when Nats are again in Bend it will be a lot warmer and
dry with no snow at all.
