Get the Edge! Get ready for racing season with altitude training right here in Portland. CycleOne Coaching has the CAT-150 from Colorado Altitude Training, the world leader in oxygen tents. This technology allows you to sleep at altitude, forcing the body to adapt physiologically to reduced oxygen by producing more red blood cells. The idea is that you will still train in normal oxygen rich air so that you may work at higher intensity levels. This provides you with the best of both worlds. "Live high and train low" is the most effective way to achieve the highest red blood cell count without cheating.
Known as hypoxic altitude simulation training, this method is used by the top cyclists and triathletes in the world. Alberto Salazar utilized this same technology at the Nike Oregon Project to prepare U.S. distance runners for the 2008 Olympics. The performance benefits are real and can improve not only your aerobic but anaerobic energy systems at sea level by 3 to 5%. If you live at sea level and plan to compete at altitude your performance may improve by as much as 20%. Try thinking of it in terms of the increase in your threshold power. You will pedal faster and longer with less fatigue.
This tent will comfortably fit over a queen size bed and can be adjusted to simulate up to 9000 additional feet of elevation. The normal rate is $150 per week with a 4 week minimum, but CycleOne is now offering the CAT-150 for a limited time at the reduced rate of $100 per week. Be prepared for early season racing. Advanced reservation and payment is required. For more details call CycleOne Coaching.
