Hey Candi,

I'm just confirming what this guy wrote about Mt. Tabor races. This year, both times I've raced I felt we've had way too many close calls with runners/walkers/skaters. I think we need more marshals to provide better safety.

We came upon the woman runner he refers to, in the middle of the downhill sweeping corner. I didn't see her until the very last minute, but it could have been really bad.

I know it's tough because it is a public park, but I've never been this nervous at Tabor before.

Happy Thursday,

Tim

Several people had asked the two skaters in this video link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lA5Renbxams to be safe and not just stake directly into oncoming racers. I shot this after asking them nicely at least once. I also asked an older couple say in their 60s who were out for a power walk to "please be careful of biker racers" as they were walking directly on the course and heading into oncoming racers from a trail. The man turned to me and yelled "you don't own the park". So there was that guy.

Last week a women was running with the flow of the race in the middle of the course with her headphones on oblivious to her surroundings. Several people including me yelled and motioning at her with waving arms. She got out of the way in time then proceeded to yell at me for a good long while, long enough for me to learn that she has lived up close to the park for eight years and has never seen any bike racing. She also said she did not see anything that would indicate that there was a bike race going on. Several of us pointed out the orange signs, cones, course Marshals, as well as spectators yelling at her but that did not seem to sway her from storming off saying "I am going to go report you".

There are some interesting perspectives out there.

I think so, yes. For all the Mt Tabor Series races,

definitely yes.

While it would be fun, I think the speed bumps around

Tabor would make running the course in reverse a poor

idea.
