USAC & cross worlds?

Mike....all...
In this case... the orneriness in me used the word "assume" on
purpose...knowing assumptions can always get one in trouble... or in this
case, get people talking about something that does impact racers. I let
them know what I thought when they sent me the survey after nats. There is
a part of me that does not care that much about USAC, but when I do join, I
can at least let them know what I think as a member. I wish I would have
received the certificate before the survey!
I do not know how "big" the organization is, but my experience is the bigger
an organization, usually the more out of touch it is with members, workers,
customers etc.

Too bad there is no WBRA covering Washington races. We could then refer to
it as WonderBRA.

But for those who intened to race outside of OBRA (like WA or national events), then you are pretty much stuck with having both a OBRA and a USAC license.

I am so happy to be done with usac and to be a member of an organization that cares about the racer.

I kind of thought those certificates had no purpose at all. Does anyone know otherwise?
I mainly wondered how much money they had to spend to make and mail them. Hey, use the money to pay for the timing chips, if they want to do something helpful.

Dan,
I agree with you.
I have to somewhat "assume" they know what is best for all of us regarding
cycling. I do question that expenditure. There are probably some who were
happy to receive them. I wonder what the cost was to print and send those
certificates out and just how much that could have aided either the riders
going to Worlds or even some of the development camps etc. Overall I still
believe cycling is a sport that requires most participants be middle to
upper economic class and thus exempts many gifted riders. I know if someone
wants to race enough, they can make it happen, but.... when they are not
even in a place to even have cycling on their radar.... how do they ever get
a chance. If however some of these riders (who struggle economically) have
made it into a circle of support and onto a team, it seems the proper thing
for USAC to offer financial support to some extent.
not to worry here... i will keep sandbaggin' !

Ok so what’s going on with USAC and the world’s cross team? People on the team have to find their own way there as we know from last year and our own Oregonians that got chosen to the team, yet the USAC will send out and "certificate of participation" for the Nat’s and get the dates wrong and on one of my buddies his name was upside down!
And they wonder why we don’t want to be part of USAC!
